Duplication Media can now duplicate/transfer from Betacam SP

After receiving requests for duplicating and transferring from Betacam SP videotapes, Duplication Media has added another format to go along with numerous other videotape formats.

Jason Olson, the owner of Duplication Media, had been shopping around for a Betacam SP source deck to enable the company to duplicate to VHS or transfer to DVD.

"Some of our CD/DVD duplication clients were having to go elsewhere to get their videotape duplications done," says Olson. "We were renting a Betacam deck to fulfill requests for larger runs of videotape duplications, but that just wasn't cost effective for the smaller quantities so we would lose out on those orders."

In addition to Betacam SP, Duplication Media can duplicate to VHS or transfer to DVD from the following sources: VHS, SVHS, VHS-C, SVHS-C, 8mm, Hi-8, Digital8, miniDV, DVCam, 3/4" (U-Matic), VideoCD, DVD...plus foreign videotapes in VHS and 3/4" formats.

Olson said, "Betacam is a professional and broadcast format which records an analog component signal. This means that the signal is split into three separate channels: red, green, and blue. Which provides a crisp, true broadcast quality product."

Betacam SP was the industry standard for most TV stations and high-end production houses up until the late 1990s. The SP portion of the name stands for Superior Performance.

Duplication Media's Betacam deck is a source deck that will only play the smaller videotapes (up to 30 minutes).
